Lately I’ve been really struggling with the idea that Jesus will come through in the end. Like Peter on the waves, I see the chaos, the risk, the waves, and frankly I’m scared. I’ve been scared for a long time.
But today I choose to believe that Jesus will come through, just as He has so many times before.
When I was planning this painting, I kept thinking of different ways to show Peter scared, show the big waves around him, the darkness. I wanted it to be this overwhelming scene of chaos and fear. The more that I thought about it, the more that didn’t seem right. The story isn’t about the waves, the boat, or the disciples. It’s about Jesus coming through and making a way where there wasn’t one. It’s all about Him reaching out to us.
